Turn on My TV without a tuner

If you don’t have a tuner but want to turn on My TV because you have DVR-MS files from another source I setting this reg key equal to 1 will do the trick: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\TVConfig\iVideoSource

TweakMCE reg settings

Aaron’s got a post about all the registry keys in use by TweakMCE if you’re into registry hacking. Looks to me like Aaron is volunteering to PM (program manage) the Windows Vista version of TweakMCE :).

Start live TV on start

Green Button reg hack, have live TV start when MCE loads. I’ll have to add this to TweakMCE 3.0.

Remote control/keyboard reg keys

I got an email asking what registry keys TweakMCE modifies when it sets the remote control ID. Here are the barebones instructions for setting the remote control ID on a RC6 remote. If you poke around you should be able to figure the rest out :).

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Delete the following keys:

CodeSetNum1
CodeSetNum2
CodeSetNum3

And then set CodeSetNum0 to the value you set your remote control to.

TweakMCE still delayed

We’re very close to getting a new TweakMCE out that will install with MCE 2005 RU2. I know some of you are very anxious for this but please hang in there. The reason for the delay is that we’re working very hard on Windows Vista Beta 2 and we haven’t had the spare cycles to dedicate to cutting through the red tape to get this out the door. I’m sorry, this is my fault, we should have pushed this out earlier before the beta 2 crunch.

The good news is that we’ll launch a new powertoy with TweakMCE that gives power users access to an often requested feature.
