If you’re having issues with Realtek audio drivers disappearing from Windows Update try this driver.

problem: realtek audio sound is distorted, voice is faded in the background and sounds like alvin and the chipmunks, while music clearly plays out front.

Tried reinstalling realtek, looking a drivers, sounds and audio preferences. To no avail, the problem remains. Does anyone know what the fix is for this?

well… i have completley uninstalled the drivers and now i cant seem to get them reinstalled. i have ran the exec for the drivers and i resatart but it still has my sound labled as a generic hd audio instead of realtek. i first unisntalled drivers because of a cod4 problem. help would be nice.
