Xbox 360 Dashboard Update

The Xbox team released a big update for the dashboard today. Now I’m not a big gamer, but since I do have my Xbox 360 and Media Center side by side I’ve been having remote control interference issues. Fortunately the update contains a fix!

I haven’t had the same problem as you since I have my Media Center PC and my Xbox 360 in different rooms. However, I do know that this screen existed before the 666 dashboard update. Has the functionality resulting from this screen setting changed so that it now solves your problem?

My findings are that you configure the Xbox 360 to listen to only the “Xbox 360 Media Remote” channel, which is channel 8, you can then configure an original MCE remote to channel 8 (press and hold dvd menu key + number key 8).

Then you can configure another remote to channel 1 (default) and use that for the general Media Center PC, or if you have more than one Media Center PC, configure the remote to another channel except channel 8 and set you Media Center PC to listen to that channel by using TweakMCE.

That way you can have an Xbox 360 next to the Media Center PC (or more Media Center PC’s) without problems - but this has nothing to do with the dashboard update, it’s been there all along.

Perhaps Matt, could you have had an internal MSFT version with an old software version, or could it be that you simply missed this setting screen?

Do you know if they added (or previously had) discreet IR codes for power on / power off?

I’m an idiot. I just missed that settings screen :).

    Derek, I don’t know.
