Chaining Changers

I got a question about chaining changers the other day… Yes, you can chain changers in Media Center Edition 2005 UR2. However, this was a ‘non feature’. Non features are ’stuff we are not going out of our way to do, but we don’t mind if it happens anyway ‘. So we didn’t go out of our way to enable it and as a result it works in the My DVDs gallery but not in Manage DVDs. The downside to this is if you insert a non-movie DVD in a changer other than the one showing up in Manage Discs you will not be able to eject it. The good news is we have already fixed this bug in Vista and so Vista will support chained changers.

This sounds Great!, exactly what I have been waiting to hear. I want to purchase the XL1 but my dvd collection is over 200 dvd’s and I will only purchase a new system if multpile changers can be added. Hopefully the new Vista version will be out before the holidays.

max2004: As it is now, then you only have to purchase another full XL1 system, as Sony decided that people properly only needed a single changer for 200 DVD’s..

(The do not sell the changer as stand-alone).

Or you could pay Niveus for a stand-alone for a higher price than the full Sony unit.

Binnerup: Hopefully the big manufactures will read my post and will have a product available before Christmas. I am waiting for a Vista version with dvd changer expandibility. As soon as multiple changers can be daisy changed, I will be the first one in line at the store to purchase one. I am keeping my fingers crossed, hopefully I won’t have to wait that long.
