XBox 360 MCE Support
Have an Xbox 360 and a MCE? Thinking about setting them up together to get Media Center Extender (MCX) working? Here are some resources:
- Microsoft.com: Setting it Up
- Microsoft.com: XBox 360 Connection video
- Xbox Forums: Media Connectivity
Here is something I ran into using XBOX 360 as an extender. I thought you may want to look at this:

Can the media extenders stream all of the content (even dvd’s from a changer) from the primary media center? Can you use another media center pc as extention device?
I am trying to set up a wholehouse deal and I want to know what is poossible..
Hello there! I´ve tried to connect my MCE 2005 equipped Sony Vaio to my Xbox 360 bur it always fails.
I gone through all the steps time after time but when the “installer” runs the final part where it should find and connect to the xbox it is unabel to find the console.
I´ve done all the nessecary adjustments in the firewall but it still will not work.
Now I need suggestions and support.
Anyone??!!!

Help on any of the 2 problems below is largely appretiated!
1. I enjoy the online spotlight feature a lot on my MCE 2005 based PC. I have some problems that when I go into “search Videos” by artist initials in VH1 or MTV, it just keeps spinning trying to load the list. Any clues why???
2. When I use media center on my xbox 360, the “search videos” option is not even available in both VH1 and MTV override???
Please Help!
I’m on day three of my attempts to get the MCE and Xbox to function seamlessly together. I spent 4 hours on the phone with tech support yesterday determined to get it working. It was a major waste of time, I’m now scheduled for a call back in the next 48 hours.
One of the most appealing features of the 360 was linking it to my Media Center and that is the only part that doesn’t want to work.
My Xbox sees my new HP/Vista pc and media library, but I have no sound. My connection is via HDMI to my Onkyo receiver and all of the games and console related audio is perfect.
My original media update to the Xbox was installed via a burned disc from the MS website before I had my wireless network set up. All software updates are current on my pc.
Q: Is my Xbox defective?
Q: Why can’t I hear audio if I can see my pc media playing on the xbox media blade?
Q: Why don’t I hear audio from cd’s I’ve burned directly to the hard drive of the xbox when all other xbox audio is excellent?
I’m disturbed that tech support is farmed out to another country to people who don’t speak decent english and who seem to be poorly trained to effiently identify and help resolve these problems.
Where do I go from here?
