XL1 Connectivity Issues

I’ve heard reports of connectivity issues between the Sony XL1 system and the XL1 changer. We’re aware of the issues, there appears to be potential problem with sbp2port.sys, the 1394 stack, and we’re examining potential fixes. I’ll let you know if/when a fix becomes available.

I have this issue each and every time I reboot my XL1 and I know others have the same issue, yet Microsoft or Sony will not release a fix? How hard can it be? Seems like a lack of effort if you ask me. And yes, I am bitter about this XL1 due to these changer issues and all of the video card driver flakeyness issues.

Have you contacted Sony? It seems to me they now have a number of fixes available.

I have contacted Sony, and their only fix was to power off/on the changer every time I reboot the computer. They said a patch might come out within a month or two. Can you please elaborate on the fixes you know of? It would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not in the loop for these fixes. They are not for Media Center components but are much lower down in the connection stack. That said, I did see a mail indicating that a fix will be available moch sooner than ‘a month or two’. I’ll post a link when it’s available publicly.

Well, it took a month since I last posted, but it looks like sony finally released a fix that updated the firmware on the sony changer and the microsoft firewire stack. So far so good…On reboot, I don’t have to wave a rubber chicken over the changer to get it to be recognized any more.

Now if I could get sony to release a version of the nvidia drivers that don’t crash every day, I might have a mce machine worth what I paid for it.
