Setting remote control address on MCE IR Keyboard

Q: How do I set the remote control address on a Media Center IR Keyboard (Kirk)


A:

  • Press OK+MORE (LED flashes at 1Hz)
  • Press a number key from 1 to 8(LED flashes twice to confirm success)
  • Turn off keyboard power (wait 10 seconds or press any key to discharge the capacitors quickly)
  • Turn on keyboard.

    Cool info - Heres a related question - I couldnt find any info on how to program the remote to power down my TV. Any assistance would be appreciated.

    It depends on what remote control you have. Do you know if you have one of the Media Center learning remotes?

    I have two Media Centers one set as ID 1 and one as ID 5, when I try and set the ID on the MCE keyboard following the steps outline. The keyboard continues to control both media centers at the same time. The “Turn off keyboard power”, I assume you mean the keyboard lock switch, as it is described in the manual.

    Like Tracy I can’t kind figure out the last steps. I am not 100% what is meant by “Turn off keyboard power” do you mean remove the batteries ?.

    I have succesfully changed my MCE Remote control using Tweak MCE but I just cannot change the MCE Keyboard. Is there some MS KB article on this ?. It’s a shame these details on changing the keyboard IR ID code where not in the manual (well leaflet)
