It’s old news that we’re releasing a Microsoft Media Center keyboard so I won’t re-hash all those details here but after having one for a while, my positive impressions are:

• Controls the power for my TV
• Controls the volume of my audio receiver
• Extended keys for media functionality are well layed out
• Backlight keys

But unfortunately the deal breaker for me is that the mouse control is too awkward for regular use; and I frequently access the 2′ desktop from my couch. I don’t know why we couldn’t have made the mouse pointer control more like the trackpoint’s (eraser heads) that are a staple on Thinkpads. It’s because of this that I’ve ditched this keyboard and have reverted to using the one that came with my HP z555 which has a trackball. And I also prefer the HP z555 keyboard to the Gyration keyboard and mouse.
